Richard Neupert, President

Richard Neupert has been involved with Ciné ever since it was founded by Brigitta Hangartner. He recently retired from UGA’s Film Studies program, A specialist in French cinema and animation, he has books on how movies end, the French New Wave, Pixar’s John Lasseter, French animation, and French film history up to WWII. He enjoys discussing recent independent and foreign films as well as Hollywood classics with the marvelous Ciné audiences.

Kristin NielsenKristin Nielsen, Secretary

Kristin recently retired from the UGA Libraries as the librarian for film studies as well as head of the Research & Instruction Department. She lives in Athens with her husband, two dogs, and a cat. Kristin is an avid fan of Ciné’s films and community building.

David SutherlandDavid Sutherland

David Sutherland was in business and industry startups for over 35 years. In 2010 David joined UGA’s Terry College of Business where he is a Senior Lecturer teaching   graduate courses in Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, and seminars on the topic of the Creative Economy. He invests in various creative projects around the state of Georgia.

David received a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, and he resides on a farm just outside Athens with his wife Sarah, dog Norah and a variety of horses. 

Jay Domingo

Jay Domingo

Jay Domingo is an artist, graphic designer, musician, teacher, and game designer and is serving his third year on the board. He has an MFA from the Ohio State University and his BFA from UGA. He has performed or exhibited in galleries across the country and currently teaches graphic design at Clarke Central High School. His favorite movie is Stroszek and his favorite movie monster is Hedorah from Godzilla vs the Smog Monster. When he isn't singing with the Athens Cowboy Choir, you can find his tabletop roleplaying game Mystic Punks from Exalted Funeral Press or watch his bands Go Public and Dog Person perform in venues around town.

Kate Fortmueller

Kate Fortmueller is associate professor at Georgia State University and author of Below the Stars: How the Labor of Working Actors and Extras Shapes Media Production, Hollywood Shutdown: Production, Distribution, and Exhibition in the Time of COVID (both UTX Press, 2021) and co-editor of the forthcoming anthology Hollywood Unions.

     

Evan Elder

Evan was born in Athens, and is a product of the Clarke County School District. He has been with his wonderful wife, Victoria, for almost 13 years, and loves spending time with her and their two dogs and (occasionally) their one cat. He has a deep love of music, LIVE music, and the performing/visual/culinary arts in general. He and Victoria love to explore cities and towns all over the world at every chance they get. Currently serving as a Retail Market Leader with the Athens and Augusta market, Evan has been with Synovus Bank since June of 2008, earning Employee of the Year honors for the NEGA Division in 2019. He currently serves on numerous non-profit boards supporting many local and regional missions, including the Classic Center Cultural Foundation, the Clarke County School District Foundation for Excellence, the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, to name a few. Athens has played a huge role in his life and Evan feels that having an art house as unique as Cine in our town makes Athens that much better.

Trevor T JonesTrevor T. Jones

Trevor is a commercial real estate attorney at Fortson, Bentley and Griffin, PA, and has lived in Athens for almost 20 years with his wife Krista and three daughters. Trevor also serves on the Board of Directors for Nuci’s Space and Action, Inc., and has previously served on the Executive Board of Directors for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors for AthensMade.
